As
we have moved into the New Millennium, Interior Architecture will
rely on new high performance fabrics to accomplish an ever-widening
array of design goals.
With the invention
in 1986, face applied Stretched Fabric Technology is making a truly
creative use of fabrics in Interior Architecture. With this technology
a design can be laid out on a wall or a ceiling then framed in using
a variety of fire rated extrusions.
Then
a substrate, most often chosen to solve a specific problem, is filled
in between the extrusions. At this time the face fabric is stretched
across the surface and tucked into the extrusions. The fit and finish
is exceptional due to the systems site built nature and the use
of one extrusion to form the edge of adjacent panels.
Almost all fabrics
can be used, although some have to be specially treated.
Most importantly
there are few, if any, limitations on the design professionals'
ability to create unique solutions to Interior Architecture challenges.
